So I have a project to work, making some stencils for a friend. I am pretty excited about it since it gives me something to do and I am making a little money with it to, which rocks. I was getting really inspired just looking at different stencils on stencilpunks.org so now I actually have a few projects including a shirt for Skull and a bag for me (because I need more bags?).
Also I am making sloppy joe's tonight. I learned something the other day when making hamburger helper....you know how when a recipe tells you to brown hamburger you usually just cook it until its not pink while breaking it up? Yea, no you should actually BROWN it. Sear that shit. I have been just cooking hamburger since I was like 10, and since I started actually searing it? Everything tastes like a billion times better. I think I need to start buying the big jars of minced garlic too...I keep telling myself that theres no way I need all that...and I just used half a little jar in a week and a half...
Also anyone have good ideas on how to eat more veggies? We have salads pretty frequently, and we make stir fry with a lot of veggies, but I have a hard time getting them in with other things. I just can't seem to get into making veggies as side dishes (such as cooking corn with a little butter salt and pepper) because no matter how much or little I make theres a ton left over.
Niko quote of the day "My baby doesn't have a brain huh?" (about her baby doll while watching the documentary Babies)
I have been eating a lot of omelets for dinner (without cheese) - I don't remember your stance on eggs but some broccoli omelets are pretty killer. Also squash, i have just discovered the wonders of squash. You can mash it, bake it, cube it... it is amazing. Plus you get to eat the seeds. East some squash.
ReplyDeleteALSO baked veggies - carrots, beats, taters brussels they all rock baked in the oven.
Lettuce wraps are also fun - and really messy - but worth a try if you have some rice noodles and veggies lying around... oh and a ton of romaine or butter lettuce.
One last one - stuffed peppers. Not with meat but with couscous and and veggies. I usually buy boxed couscous but if you buy it in bulk, put some garlic (I eat at least an entire garlic head a week) and broth together and cook it up. Saute some spinach, onion, mushrooms, maybe a little califlower or broccoli (cut up small) and mix it into the couscous. I usually put some whole grape tomatos and feta cheese in then stuff the peppers and bake for awhile. Keep it covered so the couscous doesn't dry out.
Crap now I am hungry.
P.s.
I ate bunny rabbit for dinner.
Did you like rabbit? I had it once and I really just didn't love it. It was like all the things I hate about chicken thighs.
ReplyDeleteYou know I was going to make stuffed peppers the other day, but I ask Skull if he liked them and he said he doesn't but hes just had the regular type stuffed peppers. Maybe I will make yours and be like YOU HAVE TO EAT IT SUZI GAVE ME THE RECIPE.
I really just hate brussel sprouts, I have tried to make them using the different tips people have given me that make them like...so goood...and it never works.
But I do have easy access to rice noodles so maybe I will try the lettuce wraps, and start eating more squash...
I am kind of in a rut of carrots, salad, broccoli, onions and potatos. Those are 95% of the veggies I buy....
Try roasting your vegetables... with a italian dressing - I use Good Seasonings with balsamic vinegar. Asparagus roasted is so good .. a little olive oil and kosher salt. For christmas I roasted butternut squash (which is the best), onions, potatoes, carrots, parsnips and asparagus with the dressing ..oh so good.
